Construction cadence improves across Project 15B

The four Visakhapatnam-class timelines suggest India reduced complex-destroyer delivery intervals after the decade-long Kolkata experience.

Notes

The lead Project 15B ship was laid down in 2013 and commissioned in 2021, an interval of about eight years. The second followed in 2015 and 2022, the third in 2017 and December 2023, and the fourth in 2018 and 2025. Their approximate construction intervals were therefore eight, seven, six, and seven years. These figures improve on the roughly decade-long delivery times of the Kolkata class, even though each successive ship did not take less time than the last. The comparison suggests repeated construction and a maturing industrial base were beginning to convert experience into faster output.
