Hawkins as a 9.2-inch successor

A successful Tiger Cub lineage would make the Hawkins class a next-generation 9.2-inch station cruiser rather than the historical 7.5-inch design.

Notes

A war in which cruisers and carriers produce visible strategic results would leave the Royal Navy with a stronger institutional case for both types. Hawkins would not appear in its historical form because Britain already possesses a credible series of powerful station cruisers. Any wartime follow-on would more likely become the next 9.2-inch generation, improving the role rather than inserting another cruiser tier. The Admiral class could still proceed because it was intended for the fleet of the next war, illustrating that the alternate cruiser programme changes Hawkins without eliminating every post-war capital-ship project. That choice reflects a wider procurement logic: the service expected severe post-war cuts, so anything needed for a conflict in the following decade had to be ordered before peace removed the money.
