Could later Perrys support laser defence against drones?

Laser defence remains a possible later upgrade, with newer turbines offered as a source of additional machinery power.

Question

Could an evolved Perry gain laser weapons against drones, and would it have enough power?

Short answer

A laser could be added as the technology matured, but it would require a power upgrade. Later LM2500 turbines are suggested as an option, without establishing a completed electrical installation.

Notes

A 76 mm or 57 mm gun and close-in weapons already provide firepower against drones in the proposed fit. A laser is a possible later addition, conditional on the technology entering wider service. It would need a power upgrade. Later LM2500 variants are considered as a way to increase machinery output, with an illustrative comparison of roughly 30 MW for the original pair and roughly 60 MW for newer turbines. These approximate turbine ratings suggest room for development; they do not establish the electrical power available to an installed laser. The proposal still requires new machinery and an installation design.
