PA-NG's larger flight deck and disputed speed claim

The successor proposal shown in the 2024 discussion grows to 75,000 tons and 310 metres, with extra deck and hangar space and a declared speed that remains an open question.

Notes

Growth in aviation requirements since the Cold War helps explain the larger successor design. The proposed PA-NG is described at 75,000 tons, roughly three-quarters of the displacement of a US supercarrier. Its 310-metre length is compared with about 280 metres for PA2 and the Queen Elizabeth class. The additional thirty metres offers more flight-deck and hangar space, while the illustrated design uses a small single island towards the rear. Two large nuclear reactors are planned, yet the stated speed remains 27 knots. That figure is met with scepticism while allowing that it could be accurate; no alternative speed is established.
