What naval equipment cost the Osprey in performance

The heavier naval Osprey retained much of the Hart's performance, with maximum speeds measured at different altitudes.

Notes

The Osprey weighed 4,950 pounds as a landplane and 5,570 pounds on floats, against 4,554 pounds for the fully loaded Hart bomber. Its naval fittings therefore added weight even before floats were fitted. The Osprey's maximum speed was 185 miles per hour at 13,000 feet, compared with the Hart's 184 miles per hour at 5,000 feet. Those different test altitudes matter when comparing the figures. The Osprey took eight minutes thirty seconds to reach 10,000 feet, only ten seconds longer than the Hart. Naval equipment had added weight while leaving the airframe with strong performance.
