The concept grows to capital-ship scale with nine 18-inch guns and repeated changes to machinery, armour, beam, and draft. Putting every heavy turret forward creates powerful firing arcs and severe balance problems. Combining 33 knots, deep protection, veteran accommodation, and maximum torpedo capacity drives the game design toward roughly 61,000 tons before compromises reduce the weight. The later fit includes submerged 24-inch torpedo tubes and extra reloads, which worsen the remaining fore-and-aft imbalance. Very large turrets are too heavy and tall for a practical triple-stacked arrangement.

Scaling the forward-gun idea into an 18-inch battleship
The exercise scales the Nelrod layout into a battleship with nine 18-inch guns, heavy armour, 24-inch underwater torpedoes, and persistent stability problems.
