MH-60S Sierra airborne mine countermeasures

AQS-20A, laser mine detection, and Archerfish mine-disposal vehicles feature in the discussion of moving the Sea Dragon's mine-countermeasure work to the smaller MH-60S.

Notes

The mine-countermeasure fit described for the MH-60S includes the AQS-20A mine-detection system and an airborne laser mine-detection system. BAE Systems' Archerfish remotely operated vehicles provide the mine-disposal element, deployed to seek out and destroy mines. Together, those tools let the Sierra take over part of the MH-53E Sea Dragon's counter-mine role. The Sea Dragon is far larger and cannot operate from as many ships. Moving the mission to the smaller H-60 spreads airborne mine-countermeasure capability across a wider set of platforms.
