Larger carriers reshape the interwar fleet

Higher carrier limits could produce earlier, more capable fleet carriers and link them closely to fast battlecruiser scouting forces.

Notes

Britain could build carriers approaching later Implacable-scale capacity, while the United States could move from a USS United States conversion toward Yorktowns much closer to Essex size. A later 16,000-ton light-carrier category might also yield more capable descendants of Hermes, Ranger, or Wasp. Japan would face different choices over Amagi, Kaga, small carriers, and the resources available for capital ships. The shared pressure is speed: carrier groups must keep up with battlecruisers and contribute reconnaissance, spotting, and striking power.
