Standardised arrangements were acceptable because Type C had a clear convoy escort purpose. Its specification included 120 depth charges, 12 Type 3 launchers, a rail or chute arrangement and a mortar. Two single 120 mm Type 10 guns, one shielded and one open, accompanied two triple 25 mm mountings. Top speed was 16.5 knots, with a stated range of 6,500 nautical miles at 14 knots. Type 22 radar, Type 93 sonar and Type 3 hydrophones supplied the sensors. Two geared diesel engines drove two shafts.
