The totals given here are 187 Japanese completions out of 691 planned, against 572 British Empire completions from an original plan for 588. Within those British Empire totals, 338 corvettes were completed against 444 planned and 29 sloops against 34. Frigate output reached 205 against an original plan for 110. Repeat orders and funding extensions account for the frigate figure exceeding the original plan. A programme could continue without each extension becoming a separately planned batch. Planned-versus-built totals therefore depend partly on how further orders were administered.

Planned ships, completed ships and repeat frigate orders
The comparison of 187 Japanese completions with British Empire totals shows how repeat orders can complicate planned-versus-built figures.
