Internal armour and sectional survivability

Modern armour would protect engineering and command cores inside the hull, with sectional barriers limiting the spread of damage.

Notes

The armour scheme concentrates protection around vital internal spaces. Engineering plant, combat information facilities, and other systems needed to keep the ship afloat or fighting would form an armoured core. Protected breaks between sections could contain a hit, sacrificing one part of the ship without disabling the rest. This version of all-or-nothing protection is intended to resist small drone weapons and keep the remaining combat systems available.
