Enlarging the Implacable-class hangars would only postpone the point at which heavier jet aircraft outgrew the ships. That postponement still matters because two rebuilt Implacables and two Audacious-class carriers could share similar aircraft and operating practices. A useful four-ship force creates a stronger case for continued investment than a single expensive experimental reconstruction. Permanent technical limits do not erase the strategic value of buying additional service life.

How Implacable rebuilds could postpone carrier obsolescence
A taller hangar would not defeat aircraft growth forever, but four broadly compatible modernized carriers could justify sustained investment and postpone retirement.
