Implacable's Pacific sorties and Operation Olympic

Implacable exceeded a thousand Pacific sorties before relief work, while the fleet prepared for Operation Olympic.

Notes

Implacable operated with the 1st Aircraft Carrier Squadron through Manus, around Truk, and against targets on Honshu. Her aircraft had flown more than a thousand sorties before she returned to Sydney on 24 August 1945. She then helped repatriate Allied prisoners of war and, after returning to Britain, served as the deck-landing training carrier. The British Pacific Fleet had begun withdrawing from operations around Okinawa on 10 August to prepare for Operation Olympic, the planned November invasion of Kyushu. Indefatigable remained with the Allied force off Okinawa, which sent the sisters into different final wartime roles.
