Earlier carrier strikes could change Hood's encounter

A larger carrier force could attack Bismarck and Prinz Eugen before the capital ships close, while Hood's fatal hit is treated as exceptionally lucky.

Notes

In agreement with Drachinifel's assessment, Hood's fatal hit is treated as an exceptionally lucky shot, described as "one in a million". It is also credited as a very good shot. In this scenario a larger Allied force would bring more firepower and could strike the German ships earlier. Ark Royal and Illustrious together could attack Bismarck and Prinz Eugen from a distance before the capital ships closed.
