Dreadnought displaced 18,410 tons, measured 527 feet long with an 82-foot beam, and drew just under 30 feet at deep load. Eighteen Babcock & Wilcox boilers supplied two Parsons turbine sets driving four shafts. The machinery was rated at 23,000 shaft horsepower and produced a top speed of 21 knots. Her stated endurance was 6,620 nautical miles at 10 knots. The complement rose from about 700 in 1907 to 810 by 1916, making an already large warship more crowded by the end of that period.

Displacement, turbine machinery, speed, and range
The ship's dimensions, Parsons turbines, four shafts, 21-knot speed, and economical range show the machinery and hull behind her combat concept.
