A 9.2-inch Hawkins-class alternative

A second counterfactual asks what a forward-gunned Hawkins-style cruiser with 9.2-inch weapons might have looked like alongside the G3 programme.

Notes

The next concept is a heavy cruiser that might have been built while the G3 battlecruisers were under consideration. Its armament consists of six 9.2-inch guns, 4.5-inch secondaries, and torpedoes in a forward-concentrated arrangement. This is a personal counterfactual rather than a historical design. An eight-inch belt and the deck protection choices quickly worsen engine efficiency and weight distribution. The design pairs greater hitting power with machinery, protection, and balance costs on a cruiser hull.
