The F.20/27 tests engines for later Hawker fighters

Hawker's F.20/27 remained experimental but contributed to the development of later fighters.

Notes

The F.20/27 was a test-bed fighter named after the specification for which it was built. It initially used a 450-horsepower Bristol Jupiter nine-cylinder radial engine and later received a 520-horsepower Bristol Mercury VI. It could climb to 10,000 feet in five minutes five seconds, remain airborne for about three hours ten minutes, and reach a ceiling of 24,800 feet. Although it did not progress beyond the experimental stage, it contributed to the development of later Hawker fighters.
