Fiat RS.14 and Mediterranean reconnaissance

Italy's Fiat RS.14 is presented as a Mediterranean reconnaissance seaplane that could also assist with bombing and communications tasks.

Notes

The Fiat RS.14's range of roughly 1,350 nautical miles suited the geography of the Mediterranean. About 186 were produced. The type first flew in May 1939, entered service in May 1941, and retired in 1948. Reconnaissance was its main role, with occasional bombing, communications work, and movement of personnel behind the fighting forces. These secondary duties helped connect dispersed bases and formations across the theatre. Carrier fighters would have posed a serious threat to the aircraft.
