F3 offered nine 15-inch/50 guns and eight 6-inch guns, with four on each side in two pairs. Space remained for 4.7-inch weapons and aircraft stowage aft. Its draught and hull form supported worldwide operations, while its speed made distant deployments and returns more practical. With six fast capital ships, overseas cruises would no longer place such a heavy burden on Hood. Two ships could enter refit while four remained available, strengthening the case for keeping Tiger in service or using her for gunnery training.
