The British Empire spreads shipbuilding capacity and cost

British naval capacity extends beyond the major capital-ship yards because specialist builders and dominion-funded orders widen the whole imperial program.

Notes

The yard comparison omits numerous British firms specializing in destroyers and other small warships. Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and Indian participation could also commission ships through the wider empire. These orders distribute the financial burden beyond the United Kingdom in a way Germany cannot readily match. The imperial network adds strategic depth to Britain's naval industrial base as well as extra hulls.
