Weapons, torpedoes, and a scouting aircraft

Duquesne paired eight 203 mm guns with anti-aircraft weapons, torpedo tubes, and a catapult aircraft, concentrating offensive reach on a lightly protected hull.

Notes

The main battery comprised eight 203 mm/50 Model 1924 guns in four twin mountings. High-angle 75 mm guns, single-mounted 37 mm weapons, and Hotchkiss machine guns supplied the lighter anti-aircraft battery. Six 22-inch torpedo tubes in two triple mountings added a close-range strike option. A catapult and usually one aircraft extended the cruiser's scouting reach, making the offensive and reconnaissance fit much broader than its thin armour might suggest.
