A slimmer King George V favors 4.5-inch guns

Replacing the 5.25-inch secondary battery with smaller twin 4.5-inch mounts could save beam and weight on the counterfactual long-range battleship.

Notes

A viewer suggests that the narrower King George V design might make the 5.25-inch mounting less attractive. Twin 4.5-inch dual-purpose guns could fit the slimmer hull more easily. The 5.25-inch gun is not dismissed as inherently poor, but the smaller mounting is a practical tradeoff for this ship. Redirecting 5.25-inch turrets to Dido-class cruisers could also speed production for those vessels.
