Within the UK carrier strike group, Type 23s HMS Kent and HMS Richmond, Type 45s HMS Diamond and HMS Defender, auxiliaries RFA Tidespring and RFA Fort Victoria, USS The Sullivans, and the Dutch frigate HNLMS Evertsen distribute presence, maritime security, escort, and support tasks across several hull types. The group is therefore full of ships performing pieces of cruiser work despite lacking a cruiser designation. Ship names alone do not reveal a navy's functions.
