What happens to Courageous, Glorious, and Furious if the G3 or Admiral-class hulls become carriers?
Short answerThey may still be converted, but newer Admiral-class carriers could replace Courageous and Glorious and eventually make experimental Furious expendable for tonnage.
NotesIf the Admiral-class hulls became aircraft carriers, Courageous and Glorious might still be converted but would face early retirement as newer ships entered service. Furious was already partly converted and designated experimental, making her completion likely even if her long-term place remained uncertain. Retiring one of the older conversions would release carrier tonnage for a purpose-built ship. Treaty accounting could determine what was built and how long experimental or transitional vessels survived.
