British capacity to build RMMV Oceanic

Britain retained enough facilities to build the planned Oceanic, and producing one liner was easier than sustaining a capital-ship programme.

Notes

Several British facilities could potentially have built the proposed RMMV Oceanic. A one-off liner posed a different industrial problem from constructing and supporting an entire class of capital ships. Brown's is identified as a plausible source for the turbines. The limiting conditions were money and a firm decision to proceed, rather than an absolute absence of shipbuilding or engineering capacity.
