The proposal does not give all four navies equal destroyer fleets. Britain would need the largest class, Australia might buy three or four, and Canada could use one flagship on each coast alongside its Canadian Surface Combatants. Even small national batches would spread research costs and create interoperable high-end air-defence ships. A common family can therefore serve different force structures without imposing a single fleet plan.

A shared Type 83-era destroyer family
The timing of Britain's Type 83 and Australia's eventual Hobart replacement could support a shared destroyer family, with Canada buying only enough large ships to lead each coastal force.
