What the carrier game gets right about operational workload

Simplified deck states, crew allocation, and mission planning still make the coordination burden of carrier operations visible.

Notes

Aircraft Carrier Survival divides the ship into linked work centres: the flight deck and hangar, engineering, navigation, damage control, and command spaces. Crew placement controls what the carrier can do, and aircraft must move through hangar, deck, mission, launch, and recovery states. Officer assignments also determine whether reconnaissance, target-identification, or strike missions are available. The model is simplified, but it retains the dependence of each task on the others. Carrier effectiveness therefore rests on coordination and timing as much as on aircraft numbers or quality.
