Caracciolo speed, oil fuel, and operating range

The planned Italian class combines 28-knot speed, oil-fired geared turbines, and long range in a demanding fast-battleship package.

Notes

The design exercise begins from the class's projected 28-knot speed rather than treating it as a conventional slow dreadnought. Oil firing and geared turbines support that performance, while a quoted range of 15,000 kilometres at ten knots gives the ship an operational dimension beyond headline speed. The historical displacement of roughly 34,000 tons makes the combination especially ambitious. Comparing those figures with the much larger game hull reveals how difficult it is to reproduce the original balance in a later design system.
