Boxer versus Patria: keeping an established production line working

Continuing Boxer production is advocated because Patria's advantages are judged insufficient to justify changing an established factory and support system.

Notes

Changing assumptions about future warfare have repeatedly changed British Army vehicle requirements in this account. Counterinsurgency, limited expeditionary operations and peer conflict imply different force structures. Continuing with Boxer is recommended because an established British factory and trained workforce already support its production. Patria's 6x6 is judged a good vehicle whose advantages do not justify another production and support arrangement alongside Boxer. Accepting an adequate vehicle could preserve production continuity and provide more vehicles for the available money.
