How long did HMS Eskimo take to replace her bow after Narvik, and was the replacement borrowed or built?
Short answerA new bow was built, fitted, and tested in about three months before Eskimo rejoined her flotilla.
NotesEskimo received a new bow built from scratch after Narvik. She left Harstad on 27 May, reached Barrow for repair on 4 June, and rejoined her flotilla on 5 September. The complete repair and trials cycle therefore took roughly three months after arrival at the yard. The bow itself was probably fitted within a couple of months, with testing accounting for the remaining time. Her next major refit did not come until July 1941.
