Fox's conversion removes the aft twin six-inch turret and substantially expands the helicopter area. The three-inch guns also go, and Sea Cat would be replaced with a more modern system. Existing engines and machinery spaces would remain unless changes proved necessary. The retained six-inch gun provides fire support while the enlarged aviation facilities support helicopters. The proposed recipient is the Royal Marines, giving the old cruiser a role centered on aviation and support for landing forces.
