What if every British cruiser became a World of Warships Defence design in 1935?
Short answerThe scenario gives Britain dozens of fast, heavily armed ships that transform cruiser encounters at River Plate, Denmark Strait and in Asian waters.
NotesThe scenario replaces British cruisers in 1935 with the World of Warships Defence, described here with six 14-inch guns, 5.25-inch secondaries, about 33 knots and eight forward torpedo tubes. The panel applies that game specification to River Plate and Denmark Strait, where British cruisers would suddenly carry capital-ship-scale weapons. Groups of the ships would also threaten Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. In the Java Sea and the projected surface opposition to Force Z, the same substitution changes the balance against Japanese cruisers and Kongos. The estimate of 60-70 replacements makes this a deliberately extreme alternate-history exercise whose combat claims depend on granting the game design and mass replacement.
