If the Boulton Paul Defiant and similar turret fighters were replaced from 1936, what should receive the resources?
Short answerAlmost anything more conventional - Hurricanes, Spitfires, Mosquitoes, or other useful aircraft - would be a better investment than the turret-fighter concept.
NotesThe turreted-fighter concept was a poor investment with only a brief useful period as a night fighter. Hurricanes, Spitfires, Mosquitoes, or naval strike aircraft would offer better returns from the same production effort. The turret compromised the fighter mission the aircraft was meant to perform.
