Britain preserved no battleship of its own

Britain retained battleships in reserve after the war but preserved none, leaving Japan's British-built Mikasa as the surviving heritage link.

Notes

The postwar reserve fleet still included British battleships such as HMS Vanguard, but none survived as a museum ship. That absence is a troubling loss of naval heritage. Mikasa in Japan is the surviving battleship built by British industry. This brief aside separates the operational question of retaining battleships from the cultural choice to preserve one after service.
