How American CVE production shifted British carrier building

Forty-five Bogue-class and fifty Casablanca-class ships let American CVE production cover Allied demand while British yards concentrated on light fleet carriers and other work.

Notes

The Bogue class reached forty-five ships and the Casablanca class fifty. Ninety-five escort carriers across those two classes made repetition as important as any one hull's performance. Britain built only about six CVEs because American yards were already turning out the type in such numbers, allowing British construction to concentrate on light fleet carriers and other needs. The Royal Navy still regarded escort carriers as important. National carrier totals therefore need to be read within the Allies' combined industrial strategy.
