Harland and Wolff and Workman, Clark filled Belfast's waterfront

The 1909 Belfast plan captures the scale of Harland and Wolff and neighbouring Workman, Clark between the Musgrave and Victoria Channels.

Notes

The Belfast map shows Harland and Wolff and Workman, Clark occupying most of the land between the Musgrave and Victoria Channels. Only two clusters of smaller docks appear near Clarendon Dock, which makes the scale of the main yards easier to grasp. Their waterfront footprint covered large industrial complexes rather than single slipways or dry docks. Workman, Clark was a separate major builder beside Harland and Wolff. The plan makes Belfast's concentration of shipbuilding capacity visible in its channels, docks, and long stretches of developed waterfront.
