Why dry-docking HMS Belfast is a custom operation

Belfast's size and location make preservation more difficult than work on a smaller museum ship such as HMCS Sackville.

Notes

HMCS Sackville is small enough to enter more available yards. Belfast would require a much scarcer large dock and a substantially more customized project. Reaching such a yard would also mean taking the cruiser from the Thames into open water. Museum-ship preservation depends on dock availability and towing risk as well as the condition of the hull itself.
