The Hamlyn guide offers an inexpensive, illustrated introduction to Axis aircraft. It shows that wartime biplanes were used by Italian, German, and other air arms as well as Britain. The Dornier Do 24 flying boat is also compared visually with the Supermarine Walrus. The guide encourages comparison among national aircraft choices beyond the best-known monoplane fighters.
