Mike Rossiter's Ark Royal traces the carrier's operations and voyages from beginning to end. Its photographs, layout and even-handed treatment of the Skua and Swordfish support the full career history. The review questions the book's standardized account of the ship's development and design, so that part of the narrative remains open to debate. Photographs from the search for Ark Royal, including submerged Swordfish and Fulmar wreckage, connect the written history to physical evidence at the wreck site.
