The all-forward battery still left room for antiaircraft guns

Why lost open deck area did not prevent a modernized G3 or K3 arrangement from carrying a strong antiaircraft battery.

Question

Would an all-forward main battery leave too little deck space for a strong antiaircraft armament?

Short answer

It reduced available deck space, but a modernized arrangement could still distribute numerous dual-purpose guns around the ship.

Notes

Concentrating three main turrets forward reduces open deck area that might otherwise carry antiaircraft weapons. The tradeoff was manageable because a modernization drawing distributes numerous dual-purpose mounts around the superstructure and remaining deck positions. A later refit would require deliberate placement, but the all-forward main battery did not preclude broad antiaircraft coverage.
