Chapter ยท 9:51-12:07

Albert Percy Addison and dockyard mobilization

Addison returned because a decade administering dockyards made him an ideal troubleshooter for rapid wartime expansion and repair.

Notes

Albert Percy Addison brought roughly a decade of senior dockyard administration to his wartime recall. Earlier destroyer and submarine-flotilla appointments meant that he also understood warships central to the conflict. Mobilization forced the Admiralty to expand repair and construction across naval and civilian yards at greater speed. His successor needed a troubleshooter who already knew how to coordinate that network. Addison's recall put industrial administration and operational knowledge to work ashore instead of assigning another admiral to sea command.
