Names such as Rodney and Nelson can be traced through existing capital-ship plans and the Admiral-class theme. Paperwork was already available for an HMS Rodney intended for the Admiral class. The later choice of Nelson drew on a familiar admiral name without simply reviving HMS Lord Nelson's full identity. This continuity makes admiral names a plausible reservoir for the G3s and N3s. The naming committee included senior officers approaching retirement who had little reason to preserve a minister's favor, so a preference attributed to First Lord Auckland Geddes is not proof of an adopted scheme.

Why admiral names fit the G3 and N3 lineage
Existing Admiral-class paperwork and the later Nelson and Rodney names point to an established Royal Navy naming tradition rather than a sudden Saint class.
