The 1945 project finally reflected the destroyer lessons

The 1945 design combined quick-firing guns, ammunition, torpedoes, mines, and speed in a plausible German answer to the earlier destroyer failures.

Notes

The Type 1945 project developed the Z52/Type 1942 concept into a destroyer intended for a fast, turning fight. Its eight quick-firing guns are described as 127 or 128 mm depending on the source, with ample ammunition. Four 55 mm and twelve 30 mm anti-aircraft guns supplemented that battery. Eight 21-inch torpedo tubes had sixteen torpedoes in total, enough for a full reload, and the design could carry 100 mines. Turbines driving two shafts, supplied by four boilers, were intended to deliver roughly 80,000 shaft horsepower and 39 knots. That turbine arrangement differed from the earlier diesel concept. Balanced gunfire and ammunition capacity made the design a plausible comparison with the British Battle or Daring classes. The design reached this stage in 1945, five years after the operations whose lessons it was meant to embody.
