The unfinished 1920 South Dakotas were slow but overwhelming

The six treaty-cancelled battleships reached very different stages of construction and paired twelve 16-inch guns with a 23-knot speed.

Notes

The proposed carrier-conversion hulls were the 1920 South Dakota class: South Dakota, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, Iowa, and Massachusetts. Construction progress ranged from roughly eleven percent to nearly thirty-nine percent when the treaty ended the programme. Four triple sixteen-inch turrets would give them exceptional gun power, though their intended speed was only twenty-three knots. They would dominate ships they could catch, while speed limited their ability to force an action.
