The Mark 57 system placed 20 four-cell modules around Zumwalt's edge instead of concentrating the launchers in one large block. Distributing the 80 larger cells offered a survivability advantage. Their dimensions also exceeded those of strike-length Mark 41 cells. The comparison with Burke nevertheless drew attention to an 80-cell magazine beside a familiar 96-cell destroyer. The shared destroyer label invited this simple comparison even though the ships were designed for different roles.

Mark 57 survivability and the 80-versus-96-cell comparison
Zumwalt's distributed, larger Mark 57 cells offer advantages that the headline comparison of 80 cells with Burke's 96 does not capture.
