Talisman-class Ottoman orders enter British service

The Talisman class illustrates how foreign orders in British yards supplied destroyers while domestic wartime programmes were still building.

Notes

The Talisman class had originally been ordered for the Ottoman Navy. Britain took over the orders almost before the ships were laid down, leaving little opportunity for delivery to their original customer. The construction dates given are 1914 and 1915, followed by entry into service in 1916. At about 1,100 tons full load and 32 knots, they supplemented the Royal Navy's own construction. Their armament comprised five 4-inch guns and four 21-inch torpedo tubes in two twin mounts.
