Wilk class: a versatile Baltic submarine

The Polish Wilk class combined torpedoes, forty mines, useful speed, and a compact displacement suited to Baltic sea denial.

Notes

The French-built Wilk class is presented as an unusually balanced design for Poland's geography. Four bow tubes, a trainable twin mount, reload torpedoes, and a forty-mine load let one boat threaten narrow waters in several ways. Wilk escaped to Britain and completed nine patrols before collision damage and machinery trouble forced her into reserve. Her sisters remained interned but maintained in Sweden, creating a latent threat if Germany moved against the country.
