Why Warspite replaced Nelson in the British Star Destroyer concept

Nelson initially supplied the closest profile, while Warspite allowed the comparison to include a Venator and a famous veteran battleship.

Notes

The Nelson class was the original British choice because its shape and profile seemed close to an Imperial Star Destroyer. That would have left the Venator unused while other Star Destroyer types already had counterparts. Warspite offered a way to include the Venator and a particularly famous British battleship. Her First World War encounter with the High Seas Fleet and wide-ranging Second World War service also suited the image of an old ship continually returning to action.
