A new torpedo aircraft would still need controlled water entry

Fins and a tension wire controlled the torpedo's entry into shallow water, a technique the proposed turboprop successor would preserve.

Notes

A faster replacement for the Swordfish would still need to deliver its torpedo without driving it into the harbour bottom. Aerial torpedoes were nose-heavy, and added fins alone did not produce the flat entry the British wanted. A tension wire helped bring the torpedo into a belly-first entry before detaching. That method is credited with improving the effectiveness of the Taranto attack. The proposed turboprop successor would retain the delivery technique while changing the aircraft and its engine.
