Where would the unused 15-inch turrets go?

Without Courageous and Glorious, would the spare 15-inch turrets produce prototype Hoods or another fast capital ship?

Four additional turrets would be available, making a third Renown or another rapid wartime capital-ship design plausible.

Twelve historical turrets from three cancelled R-class battleships provide the starting point: six went to Renown and Repulse, four to Courageous and Glorious, and two to monitors. Removing the Courageous-class pair leaves four turrets without their historical destination. They could support a third Renown or another rapid wartime capital-ship programme. Small-tube boilers ordered for the R class could make any such ship faster than its historical counterpart, although no single follow-on design is selected.
